What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Leave and WC Injury Specialist position at Waterbury Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates the support for all leave of absence cases and workers’ compensation claims. Effectively coordinates all cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, American’s Disability Act, Worker’s Compensation and all related employment laws. Works primarily with TPA’s, FMLA/Disability system and Worker’s Compensation carrier. Performs exemplary customer service and assistance to employees, HR business partners, and managers.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum associate’s degree.
- Four-year degree preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years Human Resources experience in order to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Experience including, but not limited to benefits administration, managing leave of absences cases (FMLA/Disability/ADA) and Worker’s Compensation claims case management.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong PC skills with demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Outlook and Internet.
- Comprehensive understanding of FMLA, CT FMLA, ADA and Worker’s Compensation laws, benefit policies and administration.
- Ability to demonstrate effective time management skills, with ability to meet deadlines, and to manage assigned projects/tasks from initiation to completion as required, and with a sense of urgency, if necessary
- Independent judgment and thinking; demonstrates initiative, strong verbal and written communication skills; and exhibits professionalism in dealing with others (internally and externally).
- Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management.
- Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in excel, vlookups, pivot tables, teams, word, power point and office 365 (outlook)
