Position Summary:
The Director of Women’s Health is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic plan for the service line, which is consistent with the Organization’s strategic/business plan. The Director provides leadership and positive promotion of the services' continuum, including acute care, outpatient programming and linkages to community resources. The Director is responsible for the development, communication and successful execution of established objections (financial and clinical) within the service line. Accountable for ensuring effective and timely provision of patient care within service units. Reports to the V.P. Patient Care Services/CNO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
- Demonstrate effective leadership by developing and defining vision, mission, strategy, including customer service, business plans and quality improvement activities and measures.
- Collaborates with senior leaders, physicians, managers and other providers to facilitate planning, implementation and evaluation of the strategic plan and initiatives. Creates and implements operational plan consistent with the strategy.
- Provides linkages between inpatient and outpatient services to promote the coordination of care across the continuum and operational efficiencies.

- Provide effective personnel management by providing, assessing and teaching appropriate staff and promoting communication and feedback. Establishes and communicates priorities to staff at all levels.

- Achieve results toward becoming the low cost provider of services and enhancing competitive performance by developing and maintaining a fiscally responsible and flexible budget, including developing the capital budget priorities.

- Effectively manage information to meet the needs of the service, department or organization by creating systems, analyzing data and providing timely reporting.
|
- Provide a safe and supportive environment by developing and monitoring safety standards, assessing the status and orienting and educating staff.
|
- Assure the delivery of safe, therapeutic patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and professional nursing and other regulatory standards.

- Advance professional nursing practice through participation in relevant educational, organizational and research activities.
|
- Perform similar and related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
|
- Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or business preferred with minimum three to five years experience of a professional experience and 2 – 3 years of progressively responsible management role.
- BSN required with current license in Connecticut.
|
- Must have basic computer skills and ability to perform automated functions in the analysis of data, budget management and product line evaluation.
- Knowledge of the budgetary process.
- Must be knowledgeable about Women’s services and management principles and practices, including problem solving, performance management and performance improvement.
- Must role model communication and team relationship skills
- Knowledge of standards and regulations as required by state, federal and JCAHO requirements.
- Ability to work in a time oriented environment including exposure to all patient elements i.e., bloodborne pathogens; physical requirements: lifting and pulling of patients; transport of patients by stretcher or wheelchair and standing/walking.
- May be exposed to environmental hazards such as anesthetic gases or by-products.
