SCOPE OF POSITION:
Responsible for the management, development and administration of efficient and professional operations of occupational health services in accordance with company policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Assists with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, customer service, and quality improvement.Acts as a resource person to the Quality Improvement administrative team and medical staff. Provides infection control surveillance data to the Infection Control Specialist and provides coverage for this position when called upon.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee and manage the administrative and operational activities of occupational health services
Assure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations
Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services
Collaborate with outside resources for program development, such as healthcare providers, third-party administrators, legal advisors, medical director, regulatory agencies, etc.
Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program.
Assist occupational safety with the accident investigation program to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses, as required.
Collaborate with Safety, Operations, and Human Resources to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content expertise.
Contribute in the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the work environment.
Prepare and manage employee exposure packets.
Monitor and track employee exposures, including COVID-19 positive cases.
Conduct fit testing for Davita employees and manage annual fit testing requirements.
Coordinate and administer flu clinics and yearly flu vaccination programs.
Track, document, and report employee COVID-19 vaccinations.
Compile the yearly employee flu vaccination report.
Maintain and update organizational policies related to employee health and safety.
Review COVID-19 and flu vaccination exemption requests for compliance and validity.
Performs hospital-wide infection prevention and control surveillance and implements the approved infection prevention and control program as designed by the ID MD/IC team.
Participates in infection prevention/control performance improvement initiatives and meetings.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Active CT state nursing license as registered nurse. Bachelor’s degree and certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred. Basic understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Intermediate computer skills are essential in use of an electronic medical record.
Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
