SCOPE OF POSITION: Responsible for performing selected nursing support tasks and administrative/clerical duties that assist in patient care management. Follows direction and is flexible with assignments as necessary under the direction of management, the nurse, and or physician initiating and performing appropriate treatment according to the patient's needs, clinical policies and procedures and standards of the profession. |
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares patients medical records for scheduled office visits for assigned provider(s), obtaining records from primary care and specialists, hospital records (Consults, Discharge Summary, Operative reports, EKGs, Labs, Xrays) post hospitalization, confirming appropriate referral on file for pre-operative risk assessments and necessary PATs are obtained, and ensure all documents are processed into chart, labeled and available for the physician at the time of visit. |
Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Takes patient's vital signs. Reviews and updates medical record; review for appropriate records, update medication list, allergies, and pertinent history and determine the patient's needs for refills of prescriptions. Initiates cardiovascular risk assessment forms, and other treatment plan forms, and perform finger stick INRs and EKG as per protocol. Perform other tasks in support of nursing/providers for patient care; document management of incoming records, labeling, and directing to appropriate recipient, returning calls to patients, notifying of results, follow up of testing compliance, schedule home draws, or calling patients with instructions as delegated by nurses and per protocol. Prepares and appropriately maintains exam rooms including supplies and equipment for treatments and diagnostic tests. Other duties as needed. |

REQUIREMENTS: |
High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants. Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or at least 3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced medical office highly preferred. Experienced using electronic medical records, Athena experience preferred. |
