General Information:
Title: Licensed Operator
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location/Site: San Antonio/Project-Based
Hours: Monday – Friday, occasional weekends depending on company needs or incident response
Pay: Bi-Weekly
Reports to: Senior Licensed Operator
Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Overview:
The Licensed Operator (LO) is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining one or several packaged wastewater plants to provide convenient, reliable, and economical water or wastewater solutions to customers. To be successful in this role, the LO must be able to function effectively both as a member of a team, and independently in the delivery of service, maintenance, and repairs. Work locations are remote, geographically dispersed, and fully exposed to all extremes of weather. The LO will work directly and indirectly with a small crew of field staff. Successful performance will require both physical and mental exertion and resilience. The LO will frequently drive long distances, and work with raw, untreated water or exposed wastewater (sewage). The successful LO must be able to accomplish these tasks without compromising the delivery of quality, safety, or customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain packaged wastewater treatment plants, which involves blowers, pumps, chemical feed equipment, reactors, aeration devices, PVC pipelines and valves.
- Perform routine tests, which include DO, pH, chlorine residuals, SV, ammonia, MLSS, etc.
- Collaborates with fellow operators and system technicians.
- Record operational data from meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
- Work closely with system technicians to oversee routine operation and maintenance.
- Perform necessary housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice that help to drive our Vison, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Core Values.
Requirements:
- High School Grad; or GED
- Must acquire and maintain a TCEQ Class “D” Water or Wastewater Operator Certification or above within 6 months of attending and completing training.
- Valid driver’s license and strong driving safety record (no more than 2 moving violations in previous 3 years).
- Acceptable background check, clear of DWI convictions, for the last 5 years.
- Drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles are required to be 21 years of age or older - DOT regulations.
- Work an 8 to 10-hour/day shift which at times includes weekends/holidays.
- Work overtime, when necessary, with the possibility of providing emergency response during seasonal periods.
Qualifications:
- Ability to use basic hand/power tools for installation and maintenance purposes.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk for long periods, and to lift up to 50 lbs.
- High mechanical aptitude, ability to apply trouble-shooting techniques productively.
- Experience or familiarity with human machine interface HMI software; Supervisory control and data acquisition SCADA software preferred.
- Ability to access computer systems to determine required maintenance activities.
- General computer/cellphone navigation abilities, navigating on a computer, using a mouse, typing, changing screens, etc.
- Evaluation of information to determine compliance with standards by using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Monitoring processes, materials, or surroundings, including but not limited to - monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Experience with customer service, client communication, and technical environments
Supervisory Responsibility:
- There are no supervisory responsibilities required for this position.
