JOB DESCRIPTION – COOK
PayScale based on years of experience.
Reports to the Director Dietary and Administrator
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including every other weekend R eliable transportation a must
Hours will fluctuate, must be reliable and on time.
Must be a team player.
Able to cook from scratch, follow established recipes, will be preparing food for 60 residents, three meals per day.
3 years of food preparation, baking and cooking, demonstrated experience required.
High School diploma / GED required / 18 years of age required.
Must have a valid Food Handlers and Cook permit from the State of Nebraska
Any other responsibilities and assignments as required and requested. Must follow all requirements as noted in the employee manual and duties as assigned by the administrator.
This position is responsible for preparing and serving meals so that a positive impression is made for the Waterford Communities through artistic presentation of delicious and nutritious meals. This position requires a professional appearance and demeanor. Our cook must be conscientious toward work, display a positive attitude, and be loyal and supportive of this company’s policies and procedures. This position requires interaction with staff / residents in a professional, non-discriminatory manner.
FUNCTIONS
- Cook and work unsupervised.
- Maintain a clean working environment according to food codes and regulations. Supervise dishwashers.
- Prepare three complete meals a day for 60 people.
- Prepare all aspects of all three meals – entrees, meat, potatoes, vegetables, soup, sandwiches, salads, breads, desserts, etc.
- Cook and bake from scratch – follow recipes.
- Assist Prep Cook / Line Cook as necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor work in well-lighted and ventilated surroundings. Stands and walks with intermittent sitting during the working shift. Possibility of sprains / strains due to lifting heavy foods and equipment, minor cuts and burns from machines and chemicals, and may be walking on wet slippery surface, so must be knowledgeable of and follow all safety procedures to prevent injury to self and others. Must be aware of and follow infection control procedures and universal precautions.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENT
Uniform must comply with the Waterford’s dress code policies.
