Join Our Team at Waterford Harbor Marina – Now Hiring: Harbor Master

Why Waterford Harbor Marina?
Located on the shores of Clear Lake, Waterford Harbor Marina is a luxury destination for boaters, delivering top-tier docking, amenities, and a welcoming community. This role is the heartbeat of our marina’s day-to-day operation—focused on people, precision, and presence.
Position Overview
This is not a traditional general manager role. We’ve intentionally narrowed the scope to focus on customer experience, staff coordination, and operational flow. You’ll serve as a key liaison between ownership, staff, and customers—ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

- Oversee customer-facing operations: front desk, phones, email communication
- Track and report on occupancy, electrical meters, and seasonal prep
- Assist with weekend readiness, project prioritization, and basic office logistics
- Maintain relationships with vendors and service contractors
- Monitor and support facility amenities: bathhouse, pool/spa, pump-out, Wi-Fi, etc.
- Light HR tasks: onboarding, timesheet validation, and payroll communication
- Communicate effectively with ownership and provide ongoing status updates
Expanded Role: Harbor Operations Leadership
In addition to customer service and staff coordination, this role also includes core duties commonly associated with a Harbor Master. The Marina Operations Coordinator will support and ensure the safe, secure, and efficient functioning of the marina through the following responsibilities:
- Enforce marina rules and regulations.
- Coordinate and assign slips, and oversee safe boating traffic throughout the harbor
- Monitor and ensure safety and security within the marina; respond to emergencies and support law enforcement or environmental investigations as needed
- Oversee and maintain marina facilities including docks, pump-out stations, moorings, navigational aids, and municipally-owned vessels or equipment
- Respond to boats in distress and coordinate with emergency responders during incidents
- Maintain accurate logs and records of vessel activity, incidents, occupancy data, and operational notes
- Build and sustain effective relationships with boaters, contractors, harbor partners, and local officials
- Attend community and stakeholder meetings to represent the marina's interests
- Support seasonal operations, including installing and removing floating docks and mooring floats
- Promote environmental stewardship to minimize impact within the marina and surrounding waters
- Assist boaters with docking, anchoring, and mooring when necessary
Who You Are
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Customer service-oriented and highly approachable
- Organized, responsible, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Confident overseeing a team and holding them accountable
- Familiarity with marina culture or high-end hospitality is a plus
