Waterford Public Schools has a vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Football Coach at Waterford High School effective for the Fall of the 2025-26 school year.

The Districts facilities include three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Waterford community strongly supports the public schools and has high expectations for staff and students. According to the State of Connecticut Next Generation Performance Accountability System, Waterford Public Schools ranks in the top third of K-12 school districts in the state. The Waterford Board of Education is a nine-member elected body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies.
Provide individual and group instruction to develop player skills, strength, and conditioning.
Support game-day operations, including play calling, sideline management, and player rotations.
Monitor and ensure player safety, including proper warm-ups, hydration, and injury prevention.
Assist in scouting opponents and reviewing game film for analysis and strategy development.
Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and academic accountability.
Communicate with parents, administration, and other coaching staff as needed.
Adhere to all school, league, and state athletic policies and regulations.
Support fundraising, team events, and community engagement activities.
Coach Sub-varsity as needed.
Other roles as required.
Qualifications:
CT Coaching Certification required
Previous experience coaching football at the high school, college, or youth level preferred.
Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
Ability to effectively communicate with players, coaching staff, and parents.
Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and sportsmanship.
CPR, First Aid, and concussion certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass all required background checks and certifications as mandated by the school district and state.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel for games as required.
