What are the responsibilities and job description for the Watercraft Inspector - Prior Lake, MN position at Waterfront Restoration LLC?
The Watercraft Inspector position serves to inspect, inform and educate the public to the threats of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species to Minnesota’s waters. Inspectors will complete training of MN DNR protocols, and will be authorized to enforce MN State Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) laws while performing thorough inspections on all incoming or outgoing watercraft at multiple lakes in the Prior Lake Spring Lake Watershed District. Shift locations will be primarily at the Upper Prior Lake, Lower Prior Lake, and Spring Lake launch sites. Inspectors will work at public water access sites conducting a brief survey while inspecting watercraft for invasive species. Other duties include assisting boaters, sharing educational materials at access sites, invasive species removal, and other natural resource projects.
Part-Time Positions: May through September.
Duties:
- Educate the public on the AIS program and current issues.
- Distribute literature/pamphlets.
- Inspection of watercraft for invasive species (inbound and outbound).
- Conduct verbal surveys.
- Documentation of inspection activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices while inspecting watercraft
Requirements
- Verbal communication and customer relations experience
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a professional manner
- Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather
- Willing to work weekends and holidays
- Requires occasionally lifting and walking or standing to a significant degree depending on traffic patterns
