Watercraft Inspector Position
The Watercraft Inspector position serves to inform and educate the public about the threats of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species to Minnesota's waters.
Inspectors will undergo training on MN DNR protocols and perform thorough inspections on all incoming or outgoing watercraft at multiple lakes throughout Goodhue County.
Duties:
- Educate the public on the AIS program and current issues.
- Distribute literature/pamphlets.
- Inspection of watercraft for invasive species (inbound and outbound).
- Conduct verbal surveys.
- Documentation of inspection activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices while inspecting watercraft.
Qualifications:
- Verbal communication and customer relations experience.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a professional setting.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in various Minnesota weather conditions.
- Available to work weekends and holidays, with shifts typically scheduled 9am-5pm.
- Requires walking, standing, and moving around the boat launch area to a significant degree depending on traffic.
This is a part-time position available from mid-May through September. The location is Lake Byllesby, Public Water Access at the Goodhue County Park.
