Job Description
The Watercraft Inspector role involves inspecting watercraft for invasive species, educating the public about AIS threats, and enforcing MN State Aquatic Invasive Species laws. Inspectors will complete training on MN DNR protocols and work at public water access sites, primarily at Upper Prior Lake, Lower Prior Lake, and Spring Lake launch sites.

Duties:

• Inform the public about AIS issues and educate on proper cleaning techniques.
• Distribute educational materials.
• Inspect watercraft for invasive species (inbound and outbound).
• Conduct verbal surveys.
• Document inspection activities.
• Maintain current knowledge of best practices while inspecting watercraft.

Requirements:

• Strong verbal communication and customer relations skills.
• Ability to multitask in a professional setting.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
• Occasional lifting and standing/walking required.
