Behavior Support Specialists
Skoi Yase Primary School & Lafayette Intermediate, probationary appointments
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct support to students: take students for a walk, a break, for a social skills group or intervention.
- Work with individual students or groups of students on social emotional learning tasks.
- Provide behavior check-ins with students and/or teachers.
- Engage in problem solving with the teacher.
- Collaborate with other professionals to support students.
- Participate in MTSS meetings when requested.
- Develop a tracking log to document students receiving support in the Behavior Intervention Center.
- Provide crisis management with other support team members.
- Establish and oversee a behavior intervention center to include reflection, restorative conferencing, and sensory supports.
- Assist other staff in the management of student behavior when requested.
- Collaborate to develop and implement behavior intervention plans for individual students.
- Interpret and share information about students with the teacher and administrator, as necessary.
- Assist the Tier 1 Team in implementing school-wide incentives, celebrations, and/or practices.
SALARY: Teaching Assistant salary per WEA Contract of agreement plus $10,000 extra duty stipend

Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- NYS Teaching Assistant III Certification
- Minimum 5-years’ experience as a Teaching Assistant
- TCIS trained with physical restraint or willingness to be trained.
- Previous experience with restorative practices preferred.
- Previous experience with behavior intervention preferred.
