Certification:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent

- Successful background check
- Complete physical, TB and drug screen
- Bending, twisting and lifting up to 50lbs

Essential Job Functions:
- A substitute custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties to ensure a safe, clean learning and working environment in the absence of a regular employee
- Thoroughly clean all traffic areas in assigned rooms/offices on a daily basis using a chemically treated dust mop or vacuum where appropriate
- Wet clean hard surface floors as designated with appropriate floor product
- Remove spots on hard surfaces and carpeted floors as needed
- Spot clean walls, doors and switch plates as needed, remove graffiti
- Clean interior glass doors and glass partitions
- Empty and clean waste baskets, clean with an odor controlling solution as needed, replace liners in waste baskets
- Clean classroom desks as necessary
- Clean whiteboards and pencil sharpeners as necessary
- Clean sinks in lab areas
- Clean and maintain all custodial and maintenance closets
- Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and polish bright metal work
- Maintain exterior steps and sidewalks
- Clean kitchen areas as designated
- Clean cafeteria areas as designated
- Clean gymnasiums, auditoriums, etc. as designated
- Clean and disinfect restrooms on a daily basis
- Refill supplies such as toilet paper, soap and paper towels as needed
- Replace light bulbs as needed
- Clean inside/outside windows as needed
- Turn off lights and lock all doors and windows after cleaning each room
- Remove trash from all designated areas and empty into dumpster
- Perform snow removal, including shoveling and applying de-icer as necessary
- Dust as assigned
- Assist building staff with request for moving supplies, etc.
- Move furniture, including lunch tables, as needed
- Set up/tear down for special events (e.g. concerts)
- Load/unload trucks or other items as needed
- Move furniture as assigned
- Clean windows, lockers, etc. as assigned
- Complete repairs as needed
- Assist head custodian as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
