What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations and Culture position at Waterloo School?
Waterloo School, located in the heart of Austin, Texas on South Congress Avenue, is an innovative teacher-led, project-based high school leading the development of real-world preparation in a college-preparatory mission. Our team is committed to innovation, collaboration, design-thinking and human flourishing for our students and our team.
We offer competitive compensation and benefits, an innovative work environment, and the opportunity to join an organization at the forefront of human-centered education.
The Director of Operations & Culture is a pivotal leadership role focused on enhancing the execution of our school’s mission through operational excellence and fostering a vibrant, student-centered culture. This role encompasses managing resources, communication, risk and safety coordination, and overseeing special projects—all while prioritizing the holistic growth of our students as individuals maturing in capacity, vision, and responsibility.
At Waterloo, a teacher-led high school with fewer than one hundred students, we believe in embedding our mission into daily operations. While teachers hold significant ownership of the mission, the Director of Operations & Culture will bring the expertise, mindset, and leadership needed to streamline and elevate these efforts.
Though operational in nature, this role is deeply rooted in enriching the student experience—not by treating students as consumers, but by supporting their development as future-ready, thoughtful individuals.
