Position: School Psychologist
Department: Special Education
Reports to: Building Principals/ Director of Student Services

Salary range: As Determined by Unit A contract
SUMMARY:
Watertown Public Schools seeks a skilled school psychologist with a growth mindset to join our team of educators at Watertown Public Schools. This position currently serves the Early Steps preschool and the Cunniff Elementary school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide ongoing consultation to teachers staff, and parents regarding teaching students with diverse learning needs
- Provide counseling services to students to address issues that are interfering with learning, i.e. individual, groups
- Conduct psychological evaluations and write thorough evaluation reports including educationally relevant findings and recommendations
- Conduct screenings as requested through Student Intervention Team (SIT) processes and IEP and 504 Team processes
- Crisis intervention
- Participate as needed in SIT, IEP, and 504 Teams
- Author relevant sections of IEPs and 504 plans
- Write quarterly progress reports
- Documentation of services provided
- Provide trainings for teachers, staff, and parents regarding the role of a school psychologist in an educational setting
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Flexibility with respect to caseloads, age groups, and scheduling
- Experience as a school psychologist in a public school setting
- Experience assessing preschool and elementary children
- Experience with the following instruments. Required skill in administering the WPPSI, WISC V (IPAD format), WIAT 3, DAS, VMI, BRIEF 2, BASC 3, Vineland. Additionally, experience with the following are preferred: NEPSY, DKEFS, Brigance, EDDT, BVAT, GARS.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s Degree required
- Current Massachusetts DESE licensure as a school psychologist
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination and the ability to distinguish color. The employee must be able to input information into a computer as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with other staff members in order to exchange accurate information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in this environment ranges from quiet to loud depending on the activity and the particular part of the day and location. The employee interacts with other staff members and occasionally must meet multiple demands from several people.
