American Sign Language Interpreter
(for Deaf and Hard of Hearing)
LEVEL: Elementary: Webster Elementary School (other buildings as needed)
HOURS: Approximately 35hours per week when school is in session
START DATE: August 2025
SALARY RATE: Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and experience
This is a full-time, school-year position and includes health & dental insurance
CERTIFICATION: Wisconsin DPI Educational Interpreter Certification (884)
JOB DESCRIPTION: This individual will serve as the communication link for a student with significant hearing loss. The ASL Interpreter will attend classes with the student and provide support to the student by signing information presented to the student in the school setting. The Interpreter may need to cover for other interpreters in the district as needed and provide additional support services to ensure the safety, wellbeing and academic success of the student.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Training/experience with signing and working with a diverse student population
· Expressive and receptive signing skills in English and American Sign Language
· Training/experience working with students with cochlear implants
· Assist students as a paraprofessional as required by principal
· May be required to attend special student events outside of the normal working hours.

THE DISTRICT: The Watertown community excels in its support for education and provides a comprehensive curriculum for our students. The District has an enrollment of approximately 3,300 students, spread over five elementary, one middle, and one high school buildings.
THE COMMUNITY: The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River and is halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.
