Lifeguard

Must be able to adhere to strict ride operation guidelines. Applicants must be able to interact with children and guests. Must maintain overall safety and operation of the water park rides, pools and attractions.

Position Prerequisites:

• MUST be 15 years of age.
• Ability to successfully complete and pass a lifeguard training course.
• Excellent recognition skills.
• Ability to work with guests in all areas, with a positive approach.
• Ability to work as a team.
• Approachable, outgoing and excited.
• Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with public, customers and staff members.
• Energy and enthusiasm for long days.

Purpose:

Responsible for the supervision and surveillance of all rides, pools and customers, to perform necessary water rescues and basic first aid needs.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection.
• Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights
• Ability to climb stairs.
• Must be able to respond to situations quickly. This may include running to various locations around the park, while carrying up to 40 lbs. of weight.

Major Duties:

• Supervise and provide surveillance of all customers.
• Perform water rescues on guests in distress
• Provide basic first aid and emergency care.
• Maintain knowledge of and consistently enforce the rules and regulations of the water park (including attraction requirements such as height restrictions, weight restrictions, proper riding position, etc.)
• Communicate with management and other employees, including use of radios, whistles and hand signals.
• Assist customers in safely riding attractions
• Be attentive at all times

• Special clean up situations are to be expected.
• Properly use all safety equipment.
• Adhere to safety policies.
• Be present at all trainings and meetings.
• Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees (both within the department and in other waterpark departments).
• Maintain a positive attitude toward the waterpark and the job being performed.
• Follow all park policies and procedures.
