WATG is hiring a Planning Intern for our Tustin, Orange County, California office.
ROLE
The Planning Intern works with planners, architects, and other design team members on tasks and assignments to gain professional experience in a variety of resort, residential, and urban planning and design projects. The Planning Intern provides essential design and technical support to members of the team and assists with the preparation and updating of project deliverables. The Planning Intern will research, develop concept design, prepare documentation, drawings, and sketches, and complete general administrative tasks for the Studio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works on planning projects as a collaborative member of a design team, participating in drafting, design development, and design charrettes to help define strategic goals for clients, large or small
- Receives hands-on learning and collaborates with designers, planners, architects, and other team members to plan, design, develop, and gain real-world experience
- Produces and updates graphic presentations, renderings, and technical drawings
- Builds study and presentation models
- Assists with research for various planning projects and may conduct fieldwork
- May produce hand sketches to communicate design concepts
- Supports project procedures, such as information organization, storage and retrieval
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Urban Design, Planning or related program
- Completed third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program and is returning to the program post-internship
- Experience in MS Office, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and GIS preferred
- Freehand sketching skills desired
