WATG is hiring a Senior Landscape Designer for our office in Los Angeles, California.
ROLE
The Senior Landscape Designer works on the development of project concept design, site plans, specifications, production of presentation drawings, and sketches. The Senior Landscape Designer finds design solutions for a variety of project types from hotel and resort destinations, residential multi- family communities, urban and mixed-use development, and large-scale master planning developments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs landscape architectural projects while developing progressive solutions to design challenges
- Confers directly with senior leadership in the development of design concepts and project implementation to respond to the design intent, schedule, and budget
- Prepares, develops, modifies, and reviews the production of drawings and models, according to established standards
- Prepares site plans to include grading, hardscape, water feature, and planting design, stormwater management systems design, landscaping
- May have input into erosion control plans and sediment control design
- Develops and coordinates diagrams, renderings, and conceptual graphics with members of the project team
- Participates, and may direct project planning and design, including due diligence studies, concept plans, site and landscape plans, and the production of design computations
- Completes design sketches, presentation drawings, diagrams, schedules, and other computer-generated or hand-drawn project documents
- Contributes to layout studies and yield studies
- Provides specialized technical assistance with particular landscape building types, components, materials, elements, or building codes
- May conduct code research, write specifications, and coordinate permitting
- Provides QA/QC on plans and specifications, developing solutions to technical problems in the landscape architectural plans and drawings
- May provide various pre-design services, including feasibility and environmental impact studies, site selection, or other design requirements
- May oversee a small team in project requirements and objectives, schedules, and budgets
- May coordinate client presentations
- Fosters a commitment to external and internal client services
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field
- 4 years of experience in landscape architecture and/or site design
- Landscape Architecture registration preferred
- Environmental accreditation preferred
- Proficient technical knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, Illustrator, and AutoCAD; Revit and Rhino experience preferred
- Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills, visualization, and digital graphic skills
- Effective communication skills in verbal presentation, written narrative, and graphic representation
- Ability to manage multiple project priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently
- Works well in a team environment
