What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Admissions position at Watkinson School?
Watkinson School, offering inventive learning to Hartford and surrounding communities since 1881, seeks an energetic and qualified individual to join its admission team on a full-time basis. This is a twelve-month position with full benefits. A bachelor’s degree is required.
This position requires a dynamic, highly organized candidate who will communicate effectively with both prospective students and parents and represent the School in a professional manner. Collaboration with an active, resourceful admissions and communications team is essential. Responsibilities include interviewing prospective students and parents, collaborating on admissions strategies, evaluating candidates, organizing and managing events, and other duties as assigned.
This position will also collaborate with and support the International Student Coordinator. The Assistant Director will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for international student enrollment and will maintain accurate records in SEVIS, ensuring compliance with all federal immigration regulations. This also includes creating and sending I-20s to international students and partner agencies.
The successful candidate is one who has excellent interpersonal skills, enjoys relationship building, networking, with a willingness to represent Watkinson during occasional weekend and evening events.
Other Qualifications:
● Admission and International student recruitment experience is preferred
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Facility with the following tools: FileMaker Pro, Excel, Google Docs and other web-based tools is important
