Watson Chapel School District Special Education Teacher The Watson Chapel Board of Education announces possible openings for a Special Education Teacher Start Date: August, 2025 Work Schedule: 190 Day Application must be made electronically through Watson Chapel School District website. The Superintendent reserves the right to either keep the position open until suitable applicants are found or to cancel and repost the position with such changes as may be deemed appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Special Education Teaching License, Subject Specific Endorsement or enrolled in Alternative Program leading to license for this position issued by Arkansas Department of Education Must satisfactorily complete Bureau of Criminal Investigation background check. Desired: Ability to provide instruction to students through explanation, demonstration and/or supervised practice. Ability to supervise students and maintain order in various classroom and instructional activities and situations. Ability to operate general office equipment in the performance of daily activities. Ability to prepare lesson plans, tests, and instructional materials for classroom activities. Ability to identify student adjustment and/or academic problems, provide counseling and/or recommend appropriate remedial action to parents. Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents, District staff, and all other groups involved in the activities of the job. POSITION DESCRIPTION Develops IEP for each student. Develops appropriate lesson plans consistent with IEP goals and objectives, following a consistent format. Teaches subject matter, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other appropriate learning activities. Develops lesson plans, adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs, and utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences. Utilizes computers and technological classroom support equipment for student instruction, as well as to improve teacher knowledge in this area. Maintains classroom organization and discipline. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the classroom and on the school grounds. Observes, records, analyzes, and summarizes the behavior of students referred for evaluation or otherwise indicated as requiring such, in the regular classroom setting and other Devises and utilizes techniques which accurately measure student progress. Develops/adapts, administers, scores, and interprets curriculum based assessments in making educational program decisions. Evaluates student's academic and personal growth keeping appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means discussing academic and personal progress; interpret school programs. Communicates and cooperates with other professional staff in academic and personal growth areas. Demonstrates IEP and staff team leadership capabilities. Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission. Conforms to District policies, including attendance, absences and evaluations. Supervises, meets with, and plans for Teacher Assistants. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and through self-selected professional growth activities. Understands parent and student rights and maintain parents' and student's rights to confidentiality. Attendance must be adequate to acceptably perform listed job responsibilities.
