Job Summary
Watson Civil Construction is seeking a certified Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Technician to oversee and manage temporary traffic control operations in compliance with FDOT standards. The Advanced MOT Technician will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supervising site-specific traffic control plans to ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians, and roadway users during construction activities.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) plans, including barriers and detours, that comply with FDOT and MUTCD guidelines.

Supervise the placement, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices, including temporary barriers, end treatments, and crash cushions.

Conduct inspections to ensure proper functionality and adherence to traffic control standards.

Consult with Traffic Operations teams and Public Information Officers to minimize disruptions and communicate significant construction impacts to the public.

Prepare detailed notes, specifications, and cost estimates for work zone phasing and traffic management plans.

Operate as a Worksite Traffic Supervisor in accordance with FDOT Standard Specifications (Section 102).

Ensure compliance with Watson Civil Construction's safety protocols and FDOT regulations across all work zones.
Qualifications

FDOT Advanced MOT Certification (current or ability to obtain prior to employment).

Familiarity with FDOT Standard Plans Index and Construction Project Administration Manual.

Strong understanding of MUTCD standards for temporary traffic control.

Experience in supervising traffic control operations in heavy civil construction projects is preferred.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop site-specific TTC plans.

Excellent communication skills for coordination with internal teams, subcontractors, and public agencies.
