Job Summary
As the friendly face and brand ambassador of Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery, the Cashier supports customers from the moment they walk into our store all the way through to checkout. We are proud of the high quality, high service shopping experience we offer our customers, and this role is key to conveying our passion for living – garden, home, and life – to everyone who visits.
Position Responsibilities
- Engage walk in guests promptly, personally and with the goal of opening the conversation and ensuring they feel welcome
- Understand who our guests are, what brought them to Watson’s, their intent and timeline to purchase, creating a connection and personalize shopping experience
- Swiftly and adeptly operate the cash register ringing up sales, bagging items, requesting price checks, honoring coupons, collecting payment and giving appropriate change, etc.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers
- Value a proactive team-player outlook, jumping in to help your co-workers, leaving things better than how you found them
- When not cashiering, cleaning, pricing, merchandising and filling items on the floor is a must
- Plant care, watering, dead heading, displaying, selling of houseplants
Position Requirements
- Willing to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to stand for an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 50lbs, and push/pull racks on wheels of 100lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, climb, squat, bend, twist, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Some work may require working outside for all or part of a shift.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
