General Shale, the nation’s leading brick and masonry materials manufacturer, is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our engineering team.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or other technically related discipline
- 5 years of experience in the environmental or related field (preferably regulatory compliance related)
- Self-motivated to work independently as well as constructive participation as a member of a team
- Willing and able to travel as needed
- Good working knowledge of computer programs (Office Suite plus state-specific and federal websites)
- Willing and able to work in brick manufacturing plant settings
Activities and Responsibilities:
- Interaction with brick manufacturing personnel on environmentally related issues (air, storm water, drinking water, mining, etc.)
- Compiling data and completing environmentally related reports (both federal and state level)
- Liaise with state regulatory agencies on behalf of the company
- Liaise with environmental consultants on behalf of the company for environmental permit application development
- Managing permit renewals and other time sensitive, environmentally related documents and plans
- Update and maintain elements of the Environmental Management System
- Training manufacturing personnel on the requirements set forth in the various environmental permits
