Position Title: Medical Assistant
General Summary: Maintains patient flow by assisting and promoting the delivery of primary and preventative health care. Performs technical procedures, lab protocols and clinically oriented activities under physician/provider direction.
Essential Duties:
1. Acts as an assistant to the physician/provider by providing primary healthcare and patient care management.
2. Collaborates work efforts with the clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow.
3. Maintains updated competencies, demonstrating ability to speak to leadership and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.
4. Maintains patient interaction within the bounds of HIPAA guidelines and professionalism.
5. Demonstrates excellent customer services skills and supports the model of patient and family centered care.
Standard Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or LPN, EMT, ER Tech, paramedic certification or equivalent and relevant experience preferred but not required.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Must be able or willing to learn to perform diagnostic testing, EKG's, administer injections, vital signs, x-ray's, venipuncture, finger stick blood tests, navigate Epic CITRIX electronic health record. Must be able to answer phone lines and triage medical based questions.
Must be punctual and reliable.
Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, practice administration, and patients.
On-the-job training will be provided. We are looking for motivated, positive candidates to work at a fast-paced Internal Medicine Office.
Venipuncture experience preferred.
Must be have Monday-Friday 8am-6pm flexibility up to 32 hours/week for Part-time and 32-40 hours/week full-time.
