Engineering Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Foundry technology, 0 to 5 years' experience

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

Proficient with CAD and CAM programing software

Proficient with Flow Modeling programs

Solid understanding of Thermodynamics and Fluid Dynamics

Ability to grasp complex concepts and communicate to general audiences in simplified language

Proven track record of problem solving and root cause identification

Highly motivated, Self-Starter, well organized and independent work style needed

Statistical Process Control and Quality Assurance methodologies.

Develop, validate, deploy and maintain comprehensive control methods and procedures for foundry molding, melting and post processing systems utilized to produce lead-free brass castings.

Be the subject matter expert in multiple foundry processes and technologies required to produce brass castings

Be proficient in root cause analysis and problem solving. Be an active member of Foundry scrap team

Be proficient in project management. Lead multiple projects annually

Ensure that all foundry procedures and processes maintain compliance with ISO and other certifying entities.

Develop and implement projects that reduce total casting costs.

Investigate, propose, and implement improvements to both foundry processes and technologies.

Lead or provide support for capital projects (CARAs) and cost reduction activities.

Lead change management activities (Create transition plans from current to future state and execute).

Fluent in reading 2D drawings, transfer 2D drawing info to 3D models and vice Versa

Learn and utilize all data driven computer programs utilized in the foundry,

Develop and Implement all CAD models for tooling designs for the pattern shop

Develop and implement Solidification software Models for castings (NovaCast)

Develop and implement Core Filling software Models for Core making process (Arena Flow)

Develop and Implement 3D printing models for Core making (ExOne)

Develop and Implement CAM programs for CNC tool making (EdgeCAM)

Develop and implement CAD / CAM programs for CNC cut off saws

Develop and implement 3D scanning programs to re-engineer obsolete tooling and develop new tooling for Pattern shop

Train foundry associates to employ process control methodologies to achieve desired goals for Safety, Quality and Pace in all foundry processes.

Provide technical support for Production Planning and scheduling of foundry processes

Generate usage report in ERP to analyze customer shortages

Create daily schedule in ERP planning system

Generate daily schedules for core making, Molding and Finishing departments

Create Router sheets and Kanban cards

Serve as Back up for Gemba walks for quality and schedule processes

Coordinate benchmarking and external analysis (subject matter experts, workshops, company visits, etc.)

Represent Watts at various technical societies.

Other duties as may be assigned.

As the Foundry Engineer for Watts Non-Ferrous foundry, you will drive process control and continuous improvement across key foundry operations including core making, sand making, molding, melting, casting, cutoff, finishing, and inspection. Reporting onsite, you will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for ensuring safety, quality, pace, and cost objectives are met. Your role involves analyzing scrap events, implementing cost reduction projects, and leveraging CAD / CAM and modeling tools to optimize brass casting production.

You Will :

Develop, validate, deploy, and maintain control methods and procedures for foundry processes to produce lead-free brass castings, ensuring compliance with ISO and other standards.

Serve as the subject matter expert in multiple foundry processes; perform root cause analysis and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce casting costs and improve efficiency.

Drive change management by creating and executing transition plans, and leading capital projects and cost reduction activities.

Utilize CAD / CAM software and data-driven tools to design tooling, convert between 2D and 3D models, and develop solidification, core filling, and CNC operational models.

Implement 3D scanning programs to re-engineer obsolete tooling and support new tooling development in the pattern shop.

Train foundry associates on process control methodologies, ensuring safety, quality, and pace objectives are met.

Provide technical support for production planning and scheduling by generating ERP reports, creating daily schedules, and developing router sheets and Kanban cards.

Monitor process performance through Gemba walks and benchmarking, coordinating external analysis via workshops and company visits.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve process issues, document engineering changes, and sustain continuous improvement efforts.

Represent Watts at technical societies and industry events, fostering external partnerships and staying current with industry trends.

You Have :

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Foundry Technology, or a related field.

0 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Strong experience with CAD / CAM programming software and flow modeling tools.

Solid understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.

Familiarity with Statistical Process Control and Quality Assurance methodologies.

Ability to grasp complex concepts and communicate them clearly to diverse audiences.

Proven problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with demonstrated ability to influence across multiple teams.

Willingness to travel up to 10%.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and / or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include : close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment :

Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
