Position Criteria:
- Manufacturing experience; strong mechanical and industrial skills
- Knowledge of mechanic, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and refrigeration systems
- Completion of a craft apprenticeship or an equivalent number of years of production maintenance experience desired
- Iowa HVAC/Refrigeration license, required upon hire
- Valid driver’s license required upon hire
Performance Criteria:
- Troubleshoot and repair commercial cooking, refrigeration, HVAC equipment, ware washing, washers and dryers, welding stainless steel and other specialty food service equipment. Work with outside vendors (manufacturers and dealers) to complete repairs.
- Establish and perform routine preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for the Nutrition Dept,FCS Department and ice machines throughout the district.
- Maintain maintenance and repair logs, Schooldude, operating and equipment manuals and schematics on all food service equipment.
- Maintain and demonstrate a current working knowledge of equipment and systems in the Nutrition Dept. Attend vendor and equipment manufacturer training sessions, on site and at outside facilities to maintain a working knowledge on all food service equipment.
- Provide training to staff on equipment needs and maintenance.
- Communicate with the Director of Nutrition and Director of Operations outlining repairs made and describing equipment issues and problems, with recommended solutions.
- Maintain safety logs and data sheets for chemicals used in the maintenance of the Nutrition Service Dept. equipment.
- Pick up parts ordered from local parts suppliers if not shipped.
- Order chemicals, filters and install for water treatment
- Maintain all required license requirements. (Continuing Education) HVAC/R license required for job
- Communicate with kitchen staff to identify any issues
- Schedule annual, semiannual inspections and cleanings with outside contractors
- Look all invoicing for purchased parts and repairs to check for accuracy and approval
- Plumbing- Plumb drains, install new faucet cartridges, change out vacuum breakers, unclog drains, additional plumbing needs as necessary.. Install new 3 phase garbage disposals when needed.
- Electrical may include installation of light ballasts, change out outlets, change out light switches, change out fuses on 3 phase HVAC units, wiring three phase motors for HVAC systems and garbage disposals and other duties as needed.
