Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 14,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

The Program Coordinator for the 21st Century STARS Community Learning Center program are personally responsible to the Associate Superintendent of Equity, Innovation and Accountability
Location: Carman Buckner Elementary School, Clearview Elementary School, Lyon Magnet Elementary School, and Jack Benny Middle School

Responsibilities:
Reports to the Associate Superintendent of Equity and Accountability or a designee. Supervises building level 21st Century STARS Community Learning Center sites as outlined in the grant proposal and according state and federal regulations. Duties will also include, but is not limited to the following:
Duties will also include the following activities in the absence of the primary Site Coordinator:
(1) Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate all programs and activities provided in the program areas such as: academics, health and life skills, social recreation, arts & crafts, and physical fitness activities:
(2) Promote safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the 21st Century STARS Community Learning Center sites;
(3) Promote guidelines as outlined in the proposal. disciplinary policy and all procedures:
(4) Maintain attendance reports, snack count reports and all other reports as necessary:
(5) Supervise program assistants and program services and activities for students and initiate new programs with approval of the Manager of Strategy and Grant Writer:
(6) Promote and stimulate program participation, register new members and participants in the staff orientation process;
(7) Plan and facilitate staff meetings and professional development;
(8) Inventory all program equipment and supplies, make recommendations concerning requisitions, maintain all related supplies and equipment and work within the budget;
(9) Supervise students and staff in the program area;
(10) Ensure members are rewarded for program participation and arrange end-of-semester celebration with strong student/vendor participation;
(11) Participate in special programs and/or events which at times may run contrary to standard work schedule;
(12) May be required to ride the school bus with the students to field trips;
(13) Any duties deemed necessary by management of the 21st Century STARS Community Learning Center the funded grant proposal and the state and federal regulations; submit all program reports to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Qualifications:
(1) Bachelor’s Degree preferred, 5 years’ experience in related field and supervisory experience with children and staff;
(2) Experience in planning and implementing youth programs;
(3) Experience in working with children;
(4) Knowledge of youth development;
(5) Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems;
(6) Ability to deal with general problems;
(7) Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth;
(8) Ability to organize and supervise students in a safe environment.

Internal – Maintain close daily contact with program staff, teachers, principals, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel.
External – Maintains contact with external vendors, schools, students, partners and others to assist in program implementation.
Salary: (Grant Funded) $30.00 an hr. Federal and State withholding will be taken from the amount earned.
Dates: Program: February 21 1 through August 31, Monday through Thursdays, 24 hours per week for 38 weeks
