What are the responsibilities and job description for the 6-8 EL Newcomer EL Math Teacher position at Waukegan Community Unit District 60?
- To be present with students during all instructional and supervisory times.
- To provide for English Learner scaffolding and Native Language Support to students including differentiation and modification of materials.
- Provide instruction and support to students following a prescribed newcomer curriculum and curricular materials; implement instructional routines and learning strategies as outlined in curriculum and as presented in professional development sessions.
- Plan and implement daily lesson plans utilizing the summer newcomer program. Monitor and record student progress; submit daily attendance.
- Prepare the assigned classroom to encourage engaged, collaborative learning. Participate in all program evaluations including progress monitoring and required assessment(s).
- Follow daily schedule as outlined.
- Communicate with parents as necessary and as required.
- Provide student supervision as required during student arrival and dismissal times.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Professional Educators License, with Mathendorsement 6-8.
- ESL Endorsement required.
- Bilingual endorsement preferred.
- Experience teaching ESL preferred.

He/She will be indirectly responsible to the Director of English Language Learner Programs for all matters pertaining to curriculum, instructional methods, assessment and materials. They will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the goals and objectives of the EL/Bilingual Education Program.
