- To provide leadership and coordination of low incidence disabilities so that each student may benefit from learning experiences in accordance with his/her individual needs, talents and interests;
- Implement the district and department philosophy and objectives; build a programmatic mission and vision that is aligned with the district and department philosophy.
- Serve as liaison between outside audiologists and District #60 to ensure timely audiological evaluations and the resulting recommendations;
- Serve as liaison between the Illinois Instructional Materials Center and District #60; (5) Assign teachers and educational interpreters based upon district and student needs; (6) Evaluate Educational Interpreters (paras);
- Assist the Director of Special Education in hiring personnel;
- Provide on-going training for teachers and educational interpreters and new staff members;
- Coordinate the delivery of contract services for educational interpreters;
- Make budget recommendations to the Director of Special Education Programs and Services;
- Coordinate IAA assessments and training for administering the assessments;
- Maintain and revise department forms, policies and procedures as necessary;
- Maintain and coordinate usage of equipment;
- Maintain membership in Illinois Supervisors of Programs for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals (ISHI) and attend their regular meetings as well as conferences on the Visually Impaired;
- Convene and facilitate IEP meetings for all students with a primary disability of Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Visually Impaired or Low Incidence Disabilities as needed;
- Serve as a member of the designated Special Education Team and participate in any other assigned meetings as related to position;
- Establish and build a data-driven culture, build on data collection procedures to drive instruction and interventions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education Birth-Elementary Programs and the Director of Special Education Secondary Programs and Compliance.
- Master's Degree with valid Type 75;
- Experience preferred in low incidence disabilities such as Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Autism, Intellectual disability, Visual impairments.
- At least three years of administration experience required
