Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 14,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th-grade campuses. What We Need:
Under the primary direction of the Stronger Connections Grant Manager , the Stronger Connections Site Coordinator The Site Coordinator for the Afterschool Youth Program will oversee and manage the daily operations of the program at the designated site. This individual will be responsible for ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for youth, as well as supervising program staff, volunteers, and participants. The Site Coordinator will implement program activities, ensure adherence to safety guidelines, and build positive relationships with students, parents, and community partners.This is a grant-funded position, and employment is contingent upon continued funding through the Stronger Connections grant. The position will remain available only for the duration of the grant period, and the continuation of the role will depend on the renewal or extension of grant funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
? Implement structured activities that support youth development, including educational enrichment, physical activities, arts, and social-emotional learning.
? Lead and oversee the daily operations of the afterschool program.
? Ensure the program environment is safe, inclusive, and engaging for all participants.
? Supervise youth participants and ensure appropriate behavior and conflict resolution.
? Adapt program activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of the youth population served.
? Supervise, mentor, and support program staff and volunteers.
? Provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure staff are trained on program expectations, safety protocols, and child development best practices.
? Organize regular staff meetings to discuss program updates, challenges, and staff development.
? Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school personnel regarding program activities, participant progress, and any concerns.
? Collaborate with other community partners and stakeholders to enhance program offerings and ensure alignment with broader community goals.
? Foster a positive relationship with youth participants, encouraging their engagement, participation, and personal growth.
? Ensure compliance with all local, state, and organizational safety standards and regulations.
? Monitor and enforce the use of appropriate safety measures during all program activities.
? Handle emergencies and incidents according to established protocols, including providing first aid if needed.
? Maintain accurate records for attendance, incident reports, and program evaluations.
? Complete and submit required reports on program participation, outcomes, and any incidents.
? Assist in the collection of data for program assessments and evaluations.
? Help with scheduling, budgeting, and resource management for the program.
? Assist in the recruitment of participants and staff as needed.
? Schedule: Monday thru Thursday 2:15pm -5:30pm; additional time may be required to support set-up and support clean up, trainings and meeting with the grant manager.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required;
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development, education, or afterschool programming.
3. Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
