Status of Employment:
Subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement through Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local #73.
Compensation & Benefits:
Expected hiring range $15.00 - $16.25 based on education, experience, and skills.

Description /Duties:
Perform various tasks to areas, facilities and site amenities assigned for:
- Horticulture
- Mowing Operator
- Park Clean-up
- Park Maintenance & Projects
- Playground/Park Improvement
Essential Functions
- Assist horticulturalist with greenhouse, outdoor flowers, shrub bed planting and tree care maintenance.
- Perform routine park mowing and landscape maintenance tasks.
- Perform routine park clean-up maintenance tasks.
- Prepare state report of assigned tasks on assignment checklist/work assignment form.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance of park district playgrounds, amenities, and provide services for special events.
- Operate small equipment as assigned.
- Operate high risk equipment such as heavy machinery.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, upkeep of tools, and work area housekeeping.
- Handle hazardous chemicals.
- Assist staff in the performance of their duties.
- Attend department and park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
- Perform duties in compliance with the policies and procedures established by the park district.
- Participate in park district safety and training program to ensure that work performed and services provided are done in a safe manner.

Qualifications
Age:
- 16 years and older.

Experience:
- No specific requirements.
License/Certification:
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Hours:
Variable hours, but typically Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Must be available to work weekends, overtime and holiday hours.
