CUSTODIAN QUALIFICATIONS:
1) High school diploma or equivalent
2) Job related training or skills
3) Good communication skills
4) CPR/First Aid Certification (will train)
5) Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.
CUSTODIAN GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs general cleaning and housekeeping and related work as required. The custodian shall operate and maintain school facilities in a safe, orderly manner and protect from fire, water and any other deterioration. The job demands the ability to bend and lift, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, and to climb and reach. Properly handle confidential matters relating to students, student records, parents, staff and any other school-related issues.
CUSTODIAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Sweep, mop, scrub, seal and wax floors.
- Empty trash and garbage containers.
- Assist in snow removal.
- Operate school vehicles and all custodial equipment.
- Make minor maintenance repairs, such as light fixtures, equipment and furniture repairs, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Obey all safety rules and regulations.
- Climb ladders and scaffolds.
- Maintain building security (lock doors, change lights, etc.).
- Assist loading and unloading trucks.
- Perform minor maintenance projects such as painting, carpentry work, etc.
- Wash windows, walls, sinks, toilets, furniture, woodwork, etc.
- Perform dusting and vacuuming.
- Set up rooms or gym area for school activities as requested.
- Load, lift or unload supplies and materials, equipment, etc.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, student records, parents, staff and any other school-related issues.
- Maintain confidentiality and loyalty to employer.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Facilities, Building Principal or Head Custodian.
- Promote a positive image of the District at all times.
SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAN PAY AND WORK SCHEDULES:
- Hourly rate $20.43
- Substitute for shifts : Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30PM or 3:30PM - 12:00AM, Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
