POSITION SUMMARY: The Process Engineer is responsible for project management and troubleshooting skills that implement customer focused processes and product improvements by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement while improving employee safety.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads safety activities and improvements.
- Develop improvements of processes and methods that enhance production efficiency, manufacturing personnel support, and product quality.
- Manage process changes in support of product development.
- Develop written standard operating procedures and work instructions for key manufacturing processes.
- Lean Six Sigma Green belt certified. Capable of leading Lean Six Sigma teams.
- Displays consistently good interpersonal skills and collaborates well interdepartmentally. Capacity to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
- Displays high quality written and verbal communication skills.
- Regularly seeks out process opportunities without assignment from leadership.
- Utilizes statistical methods to perform analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and increased efficiency. Highly proficient extracting and analyzing data.
- Capable of leading capital projects of intermediate complexity and require interdepartmental collaboration.
- Requires intermittent mentoring to ensure projects are completed on time and to expectation.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)
- 3-10 years applicable experience in a coating or paper converting environment desired
- Software proficiency (MS-Office, AutoCAD, Minitab)
- Experience with Six Sigma and Lean concepts
- Proven project management experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and critical thinking skills along with strong written and verbal communication skills
