Position Summary: The CNC Programmer Machinist supports manufacturing operations by programming and optimizing 3-axis and 4-axis milling, rolling, and profiling equipment, and uses offline programming software such as MasterCAM and BySoftCAM. Improving efficiency, ensuring quality, and minimizing production downtime are essential. This position is responsible for the entire manufacturing process including programming, tool selection, fixturing, proving-out, equipment operations and quality inspections.
Essential Functions Of The Job
Work performed primarily in heavy manufacturing environment. Office located within the production area of the facility requiring frequent walking in and around a non-climate-controlled metal manufacturing plant. Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust and fumes (rarely to the point of being objectionable). Extended periods of standing, walking and sitting may be required to meet production scheduling activities. Occasional lifting, pushing or pulling up of to 50 pounds, stooping, reaching, bending, and climbing in and around fabricated metal parts and manufacturing machinery and equipment.

Essential Functions Of The Job
- Develop and implement CNC programs in alignment with the production schedule.
- Set-up, operate and adjust machinery for production runs.
- Analyze program data to optimize cycle times and reduce setup durations.
- Assist in determining machining methods and tooling requirements to produce high-quality parts.
- Modify programs as needed to comply with the latest design revisions while maintaining documentation control in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering.
- Provide input on work-holding and fixture designs to meet manufacturing requirements.
- Respond swiftly to machine breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within machining work centers.
- Manage multiple projects effectively, adapting to changes and developing innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule for CNC equipment
- Provide operational training to department team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, models, G&M code, and Word Address/Conversational programming.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions to minimize equipment downtime.
- Advanced mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex part drawings and specifications to optimize machine performance.
- Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools with a fundamental understanding of fit, form, and function; knowledge of GD&T is a plus.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for accessing drawings, generating reports, and communication.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, BySoftCAD/CAM, MasterCAM, Autocad, or similar CAD/CAM and nesting software.
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems, with JD Edwards experience preferred.
- Flexibility to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as needed to minimize machine downtime.
- High School diploma or GED required, additional education beyond high school preferred.
- A minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience in fabrication, machining, and programming of metal parts and weldments.
- 2 years of experience in G code or related online programming is preferred.
- Programming degree or certification is a plus.
