Job Deskription
The Material Handler position assists in accurately completing orders according to Standard Operating Procedures. The Materials team works together to receive, stock, pick, pack and ship product to clients. The Material Handler position is proficient and able to work independently to ensure that all orders are picked, packed, and distributed correctly and sent out per schedule. This position must be willing and able to cross-train into any Warehouse role.
The Materials team wears required PPE: safety glasses, steel toe shoes, gloves, ear plugs and hard hats as needed. The team works safely to ensure that employees do not incur bodily harm. The team uses care and respect to ensure that equipment and/or property is not damaged. The team works together to keep the warehouse area clean.
Responsibilities
Perform all duties as described in Standard Operating Procedures and Detailed Job Instructions
Maintain inventory control and inventory accuracy for all parts in assigned areas.
Perform system transactions for all inventory movement throughout the plant.
Support production by keeping a steady flow of work staged in front of the production teams.
Respond immediately to production material requests to minimize production downtime and support productivity metrics.
Accurately pick materials for scheduled door and frame assembly work orders.
Inspect product for quality defects throughout every stage of the material handling process.
Prioritize work in each area to ensure work is completed as scheduled.
Restock storage locations.
Report any stock discrepancies to Supervisor for immediate reconciliation.
Assist other areas when needed.
Ensure all stock bins are full at the end of shift.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and interpret Work Orders and Standard Operating Procedures
Basic math skills
Able to work at a fast pace to ensure production goals are met
Able to read a tape measure accurately
Excellent communication skills
Ability to obtain a power industrial equipment permit
Strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Excellent demonstrated attendance and dependability
Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer demands
Ability to walk for minimum of 8 hours
Ability to frequently move product up to 75 pounds
Ability to frequently bend, lift, push, pull, and twist while carrying product
Previous warehouse, shipping, distribution or receiving experience
