The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and performing internal audits, overseeing QMS documentation, and supporting Operations and Supply Chain with supplier qualification and development.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with Corporate Quality Manager to maintain and proactively review process procedures, quality manuals, and QMS discipline to ensure maintenance of standards. Assist with front end processes.
- Responsible for process procedures, quality manuals, and APQP/QMS discipline.
- Technical support for quality specifications and GD&T.
- Manage all nonconformances related to customers and suppliers by identifying and facilitating problem resolution. Including RCA, Corrective Actions, Preventions, A3, 5 Whys, 8D.
- Work with Quality and Operations to develop inspection methods to analyze product quality and verify they meet customer requirements.
- Work with Operations and Engineering to evaluate process variations and lead process improvement activity.
- Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality and verify products meet customer requirements.
- Work with teams and departments to improve products and processes.
- Support Estimating and Operations by providing analysis and expertise with respect to inspection capabilities.
- Conduct statistical analysis of manufacturing data to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure timely and accurate inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality engineering, quality assurance or similar role.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and ITAR.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of our secondary/specialized processes in the supply chain (heat treatment, coatings, black oxide, and anodizing).
- Advanced knowledge of machining and production processes (lathe, mill, grind, etc.).
- Experience with nonconformance analysis, statistical analysis, experiment design, quality measurement tools and systems, and lean manufacturing.
- Ability to rigorously analyze data and drive continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products.
- Exceptional communication and liaison skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently (based on work requirements).
- Excellent time management skills.
