What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adminstrative Specialist position at Waushara County?
Join Our Team! Administrative Specialist – Child Welfare
Waushara County Human Services Department
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community? Waushara County is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Administrative Specialist to join our Child Welfare team! As a vital first point of contact for families and individuals in need of support, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring children and families receive the services they need in times of crisis. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are committed to supporting those facing challenging circumstances, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
What You’ll Do:
Be the First Voice of Help: Conduct in-person and phone interviews with individuals reaching out for assistance, assessing their needs and connecting them with the right resources.
Coordinate Referrals: Handle a variety of referrals—from child protective services and youth justice to kinship and Birth-Three—ensuring each case is passed along to the appropriate team.
Make a Difference: Provide critical information to families and connect them with agencies and resources that will empower them to move forward.
Research and Assess: Use your attention to detail to access records and make safety recommendations based on thorough assessments and data, always keeping client confidentiality at the forefront.
Work Collaboratively: Work alongside program managers to modify and improve intake processes, ensuring they meet the ever-evolving needs of the community.
Support the Team: Assist with case documentation, input important data into the eWISACWIS system, and support various meetings for the Child and Family Services and Clinical Services units.
What You Bring:
Educational Background: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field. One year of experience in the social work field is preferred, though we will consider other relevant work experience and education.
Skills that Matter: Experience with office equipment, including Microsoft Word and Excel, is essential. Strong knowledge of confidentiality laws and the ability to build rapport with clients, even in challenging situations, are key.
A Compassionate Heart: You’ll need to be a good listener—nonjudgmental, empathetic, and compassionate, with the ability to build trust and rapport with children, families, and professionals alike.
Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently is crucial in this fast-paced role.
Driver’s License Required: You will need a valid driver’s license and current auto liability insurance.
What’s in It for You:
A Rewarding Career: Be a part of a team that is truly making a difference in the lives of children and families in Waushara County.
Supportive Environment: You’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills and work alongside experienced professionals who are dedicated to your success.
Work-Life Balance: Enjoy the flexibility of working in an office environment, with no heavy physical labor required, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
