What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Lead Age Group Swim Coach position at Wave Aquatics?
Job Summary:
A Wave Aquatics Lead coach is responsible for overseeing the development in their age group team. They will inspire, motivate, and guide young people of various skill levels, fostering an inclusive environment conducive to personal growth and achievement.
They should be focused on the quality of swimming in mechanics and overall growth of the athletes. They will run a structured periodized dryland that is already programmed for them. They will create and implement swim sets fit for that age of development. They will also have administrative duties including- emails, meet entries, writing sets, etc.
The Wave Meet Director will be responsible for facilitating all meets that take place, High School Meets and Wave Meets. They will ensure that all meets are run smoothly and efficiently. They will communicate with coaches, officials, and meet volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Swim Coach, you will:
- Lead Practices: Conduct swim practices, focusing on technique/mechanics, endurance, and speed training.
- Individual Coaching: Provide one-on-one coaching to swimmers to help them improve specific skills.
- Support Competitions: Prepare swimmers during meets, including warm-ups, race strategy, and post-race feedback.
- Enforcing Rules: Ensure swimmers adhere to safety guidelines and team rules.
- Mentoring: Act as a role model and mentor for young athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Communication with Parents: Communicate with parents about swimmer progress, upcoming events, and other team-related matters.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage weekly emails, communicating with parents, meet entries, and weekly coaches meetings, and other administrative duties as needed.
As a Meet Director, you will:
- Run all Meets: Ensure that all meets both High School and Wave are set up and run correctly.
- Meet Set up: Act as registrar for all High School and Wave Meets. Create a meet file and enter all teams entries. Print out timer sheets, heat sheets, and positive check in sheets. Ensure touch pads are installed properly and the timing system is working correctly.
- During the Meet: Assist with running the computer and timing system. Assist admin officials with all tasks to ensure meet results are properly reported.
- After the Meet: Ensure touch pads and timing system are properly put away. Send out meet back up and meet results files to the necessary parties. Ensure all paperwork is picked up.
- Administrative Tasks: Create and send meet entry file, import entries into meet, send meet backup to Chair and Meet Referee, create and send out meet timeline and psyche sheets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: Have a background in the sport of swimming and/or other athletics. Must have previous swim coaching experience. Knowledge of Hy-Tek software and Colorado Timing System
- Certifications: Current certification in lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid, or capable of certifying in these.
- Background Check: Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills for effectively teaching and motivating young athletes.
- Patience: A high level of patience and the ability to work with children of varying skill levels.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work well with the head coach, other lead coaches, assistants, and support staff, and adhere to the team objectives for your group.
- Adaptability: Flexibility in adjusting coaching techniques to meet the needs of different swimmers.
- Time Management: Ability to manage practice sessions efficiently- Write progressive workouts, respond to emails, meet write ups, meet entries, etc.
- Safety Awareness: Keen understanding of and ability to enforce pool safety protocols.
- Flexibility: Adaptability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Compensation: 35-40 hours per week at $24-26 hr depending on experience
Schedule/Work Hours:
- Monday 4:30-7:30 pm
- Tuesday 5-8 pm
- Saturday 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm
- Sunday 8 am - 11 am
- 10 hours a week of administrative duties
- Additional hours assisting other groups to fill out schedule
Salary : $24 - $26
