Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations.
- Setting up and assisting with procedures.
- Provide care for animals such as feeding and cleaning.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian and veterinary technician.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with any staff that needs additional help such as the front desk.
- Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations and treatments.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinarian promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning exam rooms.
- Stock supplies and medications as needed.
- Assist with collecting and running in-house lab samples.
- Provide compassionate client communication and education.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology is essential for effective patient care.
- Ability to lift and restrain animals of varying sizes.
- Experience in emergency care is preferred; familiarity with veterinary critical care is a plus.
- Strong understanding of pet care practices and veterinary terminology.
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients and team members.
- A compassionate approach towards animals and their owners is crucial for success in this role.
