Description
The Raw Material Planner is an active member of the Supply Chain Planning department. The function requires strong interaction skills with the following functional groups: Product Development, Medicinal Chemistry, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, and Facility Management.
The Raw Material Planner is responsible for the overall raw materials planning for internal and external manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate will plan, schedule, and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, quality, supply chain, or industrial engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Experience with Quality and ERP systems a plus
- Experience using MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project)
- Experience within the pharmaceutical and/or medical products industries preferred
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and maintain appropriate inventory levels of raw materials using a deep working understanding of plant operational requirements and supplier constraints
- Determine material requirements from the manufacturing production schedules, BOMs, safety stocks, engineering, validation, and process development requirements
- Determine safety stock levels based on leadership guidance, usage history, BOM, yields, supplier lead times and reliability, QA release rates, and other pertinent information
- Create and maintain planning BOMs in collaboration with Manufacturing and PD
- Generate purchase requisitions for the procurement of raw materials through approved/qualified suppliers
- Collaborate with Buyers to understand order confirmations, monitor delivery dates, and expedite POs, when necessary
- Participate in Production meetings and support Tech Transfer teams as needed
- Prepare raw material forecasts to be provided to suppliers
- Proactively communicate with internal customers and CMOs in the event of a supply disruption. Propose mitigation strategies for any material related issues
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, PD on the creation/maintenance of Master Data for raw materials
- Provide support to Quality:
- Manage Raw Material Deviations, Change Control and CAPAs as required
- Complete impact assessments and action items assigned on a timely and thorough manner
- Work with QC to understand release activities and expedite release, if necessary, to support ongoing operations
- Actively manage and mitigate expiring materials
- Develop and present key raw materials inventory projections, expiry/aging inventory reports, and other analysis as required
- Develop metrics such as inventory accuracy and raw materials expedites
- Assist Manufacturing, QA, QC, Facilities, and PD in providing material data such as inventory information, lot trace, where used, usage analysis and any other requested support
- Actively contribute to the development of the Supply Chain Raw Material annual budget by tracking actuals against the approved budget, identify variances, and propose mitigation actions as needed
- Initiate and participate in cost projection, savings projects/opportunities and ad hoc analysis as required
- Support ERP system implementation or applicable supply planning and scheduling systems and tools
- Coordinate material transfers between, Suppliers, Third Party Warehouses, and Wave plants
