The Surgery Department is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. Certification is not required but preferred for hire. Hours are Monday-Friday 0600-1430, no nights, weekends, or call. Attention to detail, time management and an ability to prioritize are important to the role.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Responsible for cleaning, assembling, and sterilizing all equipment, supplies, and/or instruments. Also responsible for maintaining the supplies inventory for the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education, Experience, and Training
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in operating room sterilization preferred.
- Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
- Will attend one Sterile Processing conference per year.
- Certification in field will be required within one year of employment.
- Ongoing continued education will be required in field to maintain certification.
- Standing - Approximately 75% of shift.
- Walking - Approximately 75% of shift.
- Lifting - Approximately 35 pounds. Must use, and require staff to use, when in hospital and pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.
- Twisting - frequently.

- Squat/Kneel - Approximately 50% of shift.
