ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager with expertise in refrigeration systems utilizing ammonia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintaining and troubleshooting ammonia refrigeration systems and will be well-versed in relevant safety protocols, including HAZMAT, PSM, and RSM regulations. This role involves overseeing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring the efficient operation of refrigeration systems, and maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with all applicable regulations.
The Maintenance Manager directs and coordinates projects for maintenance and refrigeration teams. They are responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems (ammonia). Additionally, they oversee the facility's maintenance activities / projects, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of machinery as well as logging / maintaining records of all applicable routine maintenance and monitoring work orders to ensure all projects have the tools / parts required to be completed on time. All duties will be performed personally or through subordinate supervisors.
DUTIES INCLUDE
- Perform work in accordance with all quality systems requirements included in SQF policies and procedures, including Food Safety, Food Defense, HACCP, and GMPs as well as meet all company corporate requirements related to quality and food safety programs.
- Employee is responsible for and encouraged to report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Empowered to notify and / or act in response to any issues or concerns within the scope of work.
- Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods' Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment
- Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth
- Maintain a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services for our customers
- Schedule, supervise, and direct the work of staff; ensure the work is performed in accordance with sound safety practices and proper work methods or procedures
- Evaluate performance and make recommendations for personnel actions
- Comply with all environmental laws and regulations for chemicals and lubricants as well as disposal and storage
- Responsible for the hiring and recommendation for promotion and / or termination of the maintenance and refrigeration staff. Ensures maintenance and refrigeration staff are adequately trained
- Inspect plant machinery and equipment to ensure it is operating at peak efficiency
- Train technicians on how to open valves on equipment such as compressors, pumps, and condensers to prepare the system for operation
- Monitor temperature, pressure, and ampere readings for system and equipment; adjust controls or override automatic controls to obtain specified operation of equipment
- Maintain OSHA compliance with our refrigeration systems
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, including HAZMAT, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Risk Safety Management (RSM) guidelines.
- Read engineering schematics for troubleshooting procedures such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic
- Provide direction for light fabrication
- Initiate changes that lead to energy savings and improved operational efficiency of equipment. Familiar with operational equipment efficiency (OEE) concepts
- Estimate materials, parts, tools, and equipment needed for work assignments; order and pick up materials and supplies from outside vendors as appropriate; prepares cost estimates for jobs
- Ensure work orders are timely and efficiently processed
- Other duties as assigned by the leadership team

Salary : $95,000 - $125,000
