ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the sanitation programs at Wawona Frozen Foods (WFF) facilities are followed as outlined. This role ensures compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and company sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and food-safe environment to support high-quality production. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for scheduling the appropriate amount of people on their shifts, enforcing the sanitation program, and following and enforcing all WFF Food Safety procedures. Additionally, the Sanitation Supervisor will lead and train the sanitation team, enforce safety protocols, and collaborate with other departments to uphold food safety and regulatory compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance with all GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures. Empowered to notify and/or act in response to any issues or concerns within the scope of work.
- Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods' Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
- Develop, implement, and monitor sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, and HACCP regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to verify adherence to sanitation protocols, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures). Address and resolve any deficiencies.
- Supervise and participate in cleaning activities, ensuring equipment, production areas, and facility surfaces meet food safety and hygiene standards.
- Train and supervise sanitation personnel in proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and safety procedures. Provide ongoing education on sanitation best practices and regulatory requirements. Responsible for all department training, safety training, and holding their teams accountable to these processes.
- Ensure that shifts are appropriately staffed with trained team members.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
- Maintain proper documentation of chemical usage and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Collaborate with pest control providers to maintain an effective pest prevention program, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, inspections, and corrective actions. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Represent the sanitation department in all Food Safety, Organic, and Customer audits.
- Participate in all sanitation root cause analyses and ensure that preventative actions are found and implemented. Assess issues, troubleshoot, and develop proper countermeasures.
- Assign team members to follow the Master Sanitation Schedule and ensure that it is completed monthly.
- Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
- Ensure that all employees on the floor wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Advanced knowledge of sanitation processes, general sanitation principles, CIP systems, and sanitation chemicals.
- Intermediate knowledge of Food Safety Principles, HACCP plans, and industry GMPs.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of sanitation experience in a food processing facility, preferably in frozen fruit or produce.
- Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs.
- Experience leading and training a sanitation team in a manufacturing or food production setting.
- Understanding of chemical safety, cleaning methodologies, and pest control in a food facility.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, based on production needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sanitation record-keeping systems.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.

- Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise and in cold temperatures.
