Job Description
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for recommendations and execution of procedures involving shipping and receiving, inventory and all aspects of warehouse procedures. Institute and enforce safety programs and guidelines.
Essential Duties :
Schedule receiving with vendors and trucking companies.
People are receiving properly in accordance with company guidelines.
PO.'s and packing slips are matched, differences are reported to Purchasing and Inventory Analyst.
Items received are counted in accordance with P.O. and packing slip.
Merchandise is checked for damage; if damaged, refuse and notify Purchasing and Inventory Analyst.
Ensure special order items are marked and placed in special area for same.
ARCs are in salable condition, unless indicated; for special order items - notify Purchasing.
Stock merchandise in accordance with inventory listing. Administer row-bin-tier accuracy.
Maintain a neat and clean warehouse.
Ship in accordance with new hazardous material requirements and laws.
Enclose properly labeled to and from packing slip.
Denote COD shipping and payment COD.
Routing software process learned / performed within 90 days of hire
Utilize least expensive transportation (commensurate with good business practices) when shipping merchandise by common carrier.
Inventory
Work with Inventory Analyst and Purchasing to verify accurate cycle counts as inventory control.
Safety
Ensure all safety equipment is used and maintained in working order.
Ensure all day shift warehouse employees are wearing proper safety shoes and uniforms.
Ensure safety belts are worn while working.
Attend and participate in all safety meetings.
Ensure all fire extinguishers are in working order and have been inspected on an annual basis.
Work with safety coordinator on the implementation and training of all safety policies and guidelines.
Ensure safety inspection report is turned in every Monday.
Store toxic materials separately i.e. bleach and ammonia.
Personnel
Select, train, direct and motivate employees; appraise performance and recommend salary actions for subordinates to assure a stable and competent organization.
Work as a team with Warehouse Supervisor (nights) and Delivery and Service Supervisor and provides relief as necessary during their absence.
Participate as a member of the Division Management Team.
Qualifications :
Prior supervisory or lead experience (distribution and warehousing environment preferred).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency level in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Previous AS400 (Aplus) experience is preferred.
Ability to multi-task.
Must be able to obtain a WAXIE forklift license (WAXIE to provide training).
