The salary range for this position is $57,000 - $70,000 however, base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Overview:
As a Visual Merchandising ASM, you’ll lead the charge in bringing the Wayfair brand to life in our first-ever physical retail store. Reporting to the Retail Visual Merchandising Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the in-store shopping experience by overseeing visual presentation, driving sales through merchandising strategies, and coaching a team of Visual Specialists and Sales associates.
This position combines creativity and analytical insights, leveraging business data to craft compelling displays, execute merchandising initiatives, and optimize our customer engagement and experience. With your leadership, you’ll inspire your team to deliver seamless operations, innovative visual storytelling, and exceptional customer experiences.

What Does a Visual Merchandising Department Supervisor Do?
- Lead Visual Excellence: Support the Retail Visual Merchandising Manager in training and developing associates on Wayfair’s visual standards, floor set execution, adapting displays to inventory and sales trends, and executing tasks like marketing placement, lighting installations, wallpapering, and basic electrical wiring.
- Coach and Develop Teams: You’ll embody strong leadership and professional maturity while providing actionable feedback and guidance to Visual Specialists, Sales, and Operations teams to drive strong business results and foster associate growth. This will also include accountability conversations and coaching in-the-moment to ensure all team members meet expectations and demonstrate the Wayfair People Principles at all times.
- Execute Visual Plans: Assist in the planning and execution of visual merchandising tasks, including floor sets, daily maintenance, replenishment, signage placement, and value-added services (VAS).
- Drive Business Results: In combination with your passion for Visual Merchandising, you will use your business acumen and sales analytics to analyze trends and make data-driven decisions to contribute to store profitability and the overall success of the Wayfair brand and drive to exceed sales goals.
- Foster Team Success: Build a high-performing team through professional, and encouraging coaching to ensure task completion aligns with the store’s workload and primary objectives. Serve as a keyholder to help open or close the store as needed.
- Engage Customers with Confidence: Represent Wayfair’s customer-first commitment by leveraging product knowledge to assist customers and collaborating with Retail Engagement teams to deliver an authentic and friendly shopping experience.
- Embrace Innovation: Bring energy and creativity to the role by sharing ideas to improve operations within our operating guardrails to help enhance brand recognition, product presentation, and adapt to a fast-paced environment with evolving selection, promotions, and competing priorities.
- Oversee Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, ensure efficient processing and organization of merchandise, and facilitate replenishment of products on the sales floor to maintain visual integrity.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner daily with other departments to deliver a seamless shopping experience that reflects Wayfair’s brand values and commitment to excellence.
- Demonstrate Organizational Proficiency: High proficiency in organization, planning, communication, and relationship management abilities, with a talent for interpreting and executing planograms and sales floor layouts.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong technical aptitude to learn software and utilize technology effectively, including mobile apps, portable devices, Google Workspace, and/or Microsoft Office.
What are the Job Requirements?
- 1 years of leading a large team
- 2 years of previous leadership experience motivating a team of high performers to achieve strong business results through Visual Merchandising and Brand Presentation (such as a store Leader or Trainer.)
- 3 years of prior retail experience (preference for home, furnishing, and interior design spaces.)
- You will be required to work a flexible schedule that in many cases may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with basic electrical wiring, installing lighting, wallpapering, furniture assembly, etc.
