What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Accountant, SEC Reporting position at Wayfair?
This position is a hybrid in-office role that works out of our Boston HQ.
Monday-Thursday will be working in office and Friday is WFH. This is not a virtual / remote position.
Wayfair’s Finance group is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team! This role will reside on the SEC Reporting team within the Wayfair Finance Department. This is a fast scaling position and will be able to offer a lot of career progression at a growing public company. This is a dynamic role and offers exposure to many areas of accounting and finance, including SEC Reporting and technical accounting areas such as debt and equity..
The SEC Reporting team is responsible for the preparation of our financial statements that are filed with the SEC and ensures they are in compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations. Members of this team work closely with various other teams and departments to properly report the consolidated balance sheets and income statement to management monthly as well as public filings quarterly and annually.

What You’ll Do:
- Support our SEC financial reporting process, including quarterly and annual reporting (Form 10-Q, 10-K), earnings releases, and other financial reporting.
- Support the month end close process in the following areas: debt, stock-based compensation, equity, investments, segments and consolidation.
- Stay updated on accounting standards and industry trends, research and assist with implementation of accounting and regulatory guidance to ensure accurate and relevant disclosures in audited financial statements and SEC filings.
- Perform internal controls over financial reporting and support internal and external audit and quarterly reviews.
- Liaison with external auditors and members of Wayfair’s accounting, finance, legal, investor relations and treasury teams to ensure complete and accurate reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 3 years of related experience
- 2 years at Big 4 in public accounting with SEC experience or similar external reporting experience in the corporate world
- CPA required
- Understanding of accounting, internal controls, auditing
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Experience with the following systems would be a plus: Workiva (or equivalent) and Fidelity PSW
- ERP experience is a plus (SAP)
