Compensation:
- In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Role Summary
As an Assistive Technology Instructor, you will be pivotal in supporting children, youth, and families facing life’s toughest challenges. Whether you provide hands-on case management, help to develop life skills, or provide emotional support, your work will directly impact the lives of those we serve.

How you will Impact Change:
- Maintain scheduling and appointments with clients.
- Turn in clear and concise reports to the Supervisor regarding client assessment summaries and training summaries.
- Assess clients accurately and make valid equipment recommendations for clients based on their individual goals and need.
- Communicate students’ progress to supervisor, student and referring counselor in a timely manner.
- Work together with other programs and assistive technology personnel to assist clients in different programs when necessary.
Qualifications
Education and Credentials
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science technology or related field is preferred. Education may be waived in lieu of 3 years’ experience in Assistive Technology instruction.
- College training in the areas of computer literacy with assistive technology for the blind and visually impaired is also preferred.
- Past accomplishments in the field of have provided instruction to the visually impaired in the areas of typing and the use of computer technology is preferred.
- Proficient on MS Office, internet and email software, assistive computer software such as JAWS 2024, Zoom Text, Kurzweil 1000, OpenBook, and Duxbury Braille translation software.
- Knowledge of and ability to instruct blind and visually impaired individuals in the use of computer technology equipment.
