We're growing and on a mission to find a Medical Coder & Charge Review Specialist to help us invest in some really important people: patients and medical providers. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Dermatology and Wound Care coding to ensure claims are accurate, compliant, and optimized for reimbursement. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Code and review dermatology, plastic surgery, and wound care claims with precision, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and maximum reimbursement.
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes by researching Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and other payer policies to guide coding strategies.
- Analyze documentation to assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes, ensuring claims reflect services rendered.
- Collaborate with providers and internal teams to clarify documentation, answer coding-related questions, and optimize workflows.
- Identify trends and potential risks in coding and billing practices, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Assist with audits and appeals by reviewing denials, providing coding justifications, and submitting supporting documentation.

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED:
- Proficiency in coding Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, and Wound Care services.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and National Coverage Determinations (NCDs).
- Excellent research skills to navigate payer policies and coding regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate coding rationales to providers, billers, and insurance companies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assess denials and develop appeal strategies.
- Comfort with technology—we live in a digital world and need people who can navigate electronic medical records and billing platforms with ease.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years of medical coding experience in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, or Wound Care.
- Current coding certification required (CPC, CCS, or equivalent). Preference given to CPCD (Certified Professional Coder in Dermatology).
- Experience working with outpatient claims and E/M coding.
- Prior experience handling coding audits, payer policies, and compliance regulations is a plus.
