Description
Under the direction of a supervising classroom teacher and school administration, the teaching assistant will provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for assisting with the supervision, care, and instruction of students; implementing academic and behavioral plans; and data collection. Job Qualifications
- Possession of or willingness to pursue a Level 1 Teaching Assistant certification in New York State. For information on obtaining a TA certification, see: Level I Teaching Assistant
- Willing to work towards a comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction as it relates to academic and social/emotional learning.
- Experience with children and some knowledge of childhood development.
- Demonstrates integrity, honesty, a lifelong commitment to learning.
- Is skilled at establishing positive working relationships.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications may be made as the Superintendent and Board of Education find appropriate.
